ARE YOU ROWDY?

Not loud. Not obnoxious. Just unwilling to pretend you don't believe it.

WHAT IS A ROWDY CHRISTIAN?

Somebody makes a joke about Christians in the group chat.

You read it. You start typing. You delete it.

Nobody got offended. Nobody got hurt. And nobody got any closer to the truth either.

There are a lot of Christians nobody knows are Christians.

A Rowdy Christian is not the loudest person in the room. A Rowdy Christian is the one you can actually identify. Someone who will say what they believe out loud, in public, to people who disagree. Someone who holds a conviction that costs them something and holds it anyway. Someone who shows up when it would be easier and safer not to.

This is for the other kind.

HOW YOU GET FROM QUIET TO ROWDY

Three things. Not a program, not a course. Just the three things that actually move somebody from quiet to Rowdy.

KNOW IT.

You don't get bolder by trying harder. You get bolder when you actually know the answer. Apologetics taught by a guy who spent thirty years arguing the other side.

WEAR IT.

A uniform says where you stand before you open your mouth. The shirt starts the conversation so you don't have to.

SAY IT.

One small, specific act of bold faith a week. Not a mission trip. A sentence.

THIS SHIRT IS A UNIFORM.

Uniforms mean something. They say where you stand before you open your mouth.

So before you buy one, know what you are putting on.

Somebody is going to read your chest and ask what it means. You need an answer. Not a perfect one. Just an honest one.

If that sounds like a burden, this is not your brand.

If it sounds like an opportunity, welcome.

SHOP THE DROP SHOP THE DROP

THIRTY YEARS AS AN ATHEIST.

THEN MY MOM DIED.

I grew up Baptist and left it behind for three decades. I built a career, ran companies, sat in the CFO chair more than once, and I was completely certain the whole thing was nonsense.

In 2014 I watched my mother die of cancer, and I held power of attorney while her pastor prayed over her and over me. I did not want it. I told myself I already knew what I believed.

Then it would not leave me alone. For about a year I kept getting the same thought: you had better figure out what you actually believe. Spring of 2016 I stopped arguing and came back.

Now I teach apologetics to young adults, I work security for my church, and I have stood on the front line at things I never expected to be at. Rowdy Christian started as something I said out loud describing one of those nights. Then I realized it was not a joke, and it was not just a shirt.
